Why it matters
For developers building directory-style products, this is a reference list of 34 existing competitors and inspiration sources to audit. The name 'mkdir' also collides with the Linux command and a separate Next.js boilerplate product at mkdirs.com, which could cause brand confusion.
Keep
- mkdir.directory indexes 34 web design inspiration directories, all free and accountless
- The site uses a voting mechanism to reorder listings per user
- The name 'mkdir' overlaps with the Linux command and a separate Next.js boilerplate at mkdirs.com
- The post is a single-link self-promotion with no additional context
Next
- Compare mkdir.directory against mkdirs.com to understand the naming collision and product differences
- Review the 34 listed directories to benchmark against existing web design curation tools
Still open
- How does mkdir.directory differentiate from the 34 directories it lists, which are themselves free?
- Is there any traffic or engagement data to validate the site's traction?
